our inaugural event: the Launch with a KaMAYAN FEAST
The Filipino vote in Nevada, particularly in Clark County, holds the potential to be a game-changer in a close election. With nearly 45,000 registered Filipino voters in the area, the FilAM Dems Nevada can make significant gains by strategically engaging with this community. This effort requires a focused, culturally aware approach that highlights the issues most important to Filipino Americans, while also conveying Kamala Harris’ vision for an inclusive and prosperous America.
The time is ripe to mobilize this growing electorate and tip the scale in favor of Kamala Harris, ensuring that Filipino voices play a decisive role in shaping the future of the nation.
This move outlines a clear path for harnessing the strength of the Filipino American vote..
A Kamayan Feast to Launch a Movement
On August 14, 2025, the FilAm Dems of Nevada proudly launched the official NV Dems campaign season with a Kamayan Feast hosted at SEIU. More than just a meal, kamayan is a centuries-old Filipino tradition of sharing food laid out on fresh banana leaves, eaten together with our hands. It’s a communal table where hierarchy dissolves, where joy and solidarity come alive, and where everyone is connected through food, culture, and conversation.
That spirit of unity filled the room as Democratic leaders and community members gathered side by side. Among those in attendance were Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom, Assemblywoman Erica Mosca, Assemblyman Duy Nguyen, Democratic stalwarts Donna West, Danielle Munroe-Moreno, and other officials who joined us not only to honor Filipino culture but also to affirm the critical role that Filipino Americans—Nevada’s fastest-growing Asian American community—play in shaping the state’s future.
The feast was both symbolic and strategic: it reminded us that campaigns, like kamayan, thrive on togetherness. Every voter matters, every story has a place on the table, and every voice adds strength to the movement. The event was also highlighted by the induction of its Officers and Board Members for the inaugural term. Elected as Chair is Margie Llorente-Gonzales, Joel D, Enriquez as Vice Chair, Keira Finscher as Second Vice Chair, Raquel Reyes as Corresponding Secretary, Olivia Enriquez as Recording Secretary, Magnolia Magat as Treasurer, Sam Buban as Parliamentarian.
Looking ahead, FilAm Dems Nevada is preparing for upcoming campaign activities that will carry this same spirit into neighborhoods, community centers, and digital spaces. From voter registration drives to cultural outreach events, we are committed to ensuring that Filipino American voices are at the center of Nevada’s Democratic strategies—loud, visible, and impactful.
As we move forward, we invite you to pull up a seat at our table. Together, let’s make sure that our values of democracy, diversity, and solidarity are not only celebrated, but reflected at the ballot box.
